New York, New York with its bright lights and busy city streets, it pulses and throbs with activity 24hrs a day. Called the city that never sleeps, it is the perfect haunt for those who aren't afraid to take life by the horns and put themselves out there. The city is the most powerful and influential city on earth as it sets global agenda and influences the world in trends, policy, and finance.

However, for all the promise of possibility, the city is a rough and unforgiving place. Today's toast of the town can quickly become yesterday's news and find themselves forever regulated into irrelevance. No matter the social set or profession, New Yorkers are constantly in competition with each other for their share of the pie.

It's a dynamic and diverse organism that demands its citizens to pay their dues in their blood, sweat, and tears. Those who aren't careful, will quickly find their dreams chewed up and spit out by the Big Apple.

New York City is known for being a world leader in medicine. The city's prestigious hospitals are at the top of their class. Whether it's research or care, the reputations of the institutions are world renowned.

Justin has landed himself a gig as an Anesthesiologist at Beth Israel Medical Group which is a huge hospital that also is partnered with Roosevelt Hospital and St Luke's Hospital. Founded in the 1800s by Orthodox Jews on the Lower East Side to treat poor immigrant Jews, it's a teaching hospital that provides both residencies and has a college of nursing. In addition to education, Beth Israel also participates heavily in clinical trials and encourages research and development.

It's operated as a not-for-profit entity, which isn't saying much in the medical profession. Salaries are extremely generous and along with the benefit packages, it's considered one of New York City's best employers. There are a number of community and charitable programs available to reach out to the city's poor, particularly lower income immigrant communities.

Beth Israel has campuses in both Manhattan and Brooklyn. Justin is assigned to the Brooklyn campus currently as one of the youngest Anesthesiologists ever. He's just out of residency with a shiny and new license to practice in New York State and so he's got his whole career ahead of him.
