Attributes have not been modified in WoDG. They are as they are in the core texts of the various venues.

However, please note that no player character can start with an Attribute of 4 without good reason for doing so. In the case of supernatural characters, the one 4 that you take in Attributes must make sense for your character concept. Additional Attributes above 4 also must be explained.

Players are free to choose specialties when they reach a rating of 4 in an Attribute. Ideas for these are listed in various core books, but players are also free to make up specialties that are more fitting for their characters, subject to ST approval.

Learning Attributes

The time it takes and the method by which attributes are learned varies with what type of Attribute and venue.

  • Physical Attributes - For levels 2 and 3, it takes 3 months to learn and 25% of downtime.  Players can reduce the time by 2 months by expending 50% of their downtime. Level 4 is at ST discretion and based on character concept and motivation. The exception is Vampire where characters are not bound by biological limitations and may increase Attributes based on Discipline Learning rates.
  • Mental and Social Attributes - For levels 2 and 3, it takes 3 months to learn and 25% of downtime. Players can reduce the time by 2 months by expending 50% of their downtime. Level 4 is at ST discretion and based on character concept and motivation. All venues.

Attributes at 5 or More

Absolutely no player character will start with an Attribute rating of 5 ever. The Character Creation process won't allow you to do so.

Further, Attributes can only be raised permanently to 5 or higher as a ST reward. In such cases, players have to spend Experience as normal.
